FORT COLLINS, Colo. – South Shields Street will experience significant traffic impacts between West Mountain Avenue and West Mulberry Street from July 6-31 while the City of Fort Collins installs protected bike lanes on Shields (see Shields Street Transportation Improvements) and completes utility work beneath the roadway related to the Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project.
Expect lane shifts on Shields in the work area from July 6-19, followed by a full closure of Shields from Mountain to Mulberry from July 20-31 related to utility work.
During the full closure residents who live on Shields north of West Olive Street will be able to access their homes from West Oak Street; residents south of Olive will be able to access their homes from West Magnolia Street.
All traffic should be aware of changing traffic patterns and follow posted detour routes. Drivers should use Taft Hill Road or College Avenue to avoid the full closure.
