Park Planning and Maintenance

Fort Collins is home to award-winning parks and an expansive trail system. Our Park Planning and Development team collaborates closely with the community to design and maintain our parks and trails, whether it’s planning for a new park or working on renovations in an existing location.

Foothills Multi-Use Site

In November 2025, the Fort Collins community overwhelmingly approved a ballot initiative to support the future use of 164-acres on the site of the former Colorado State University’s Hughes Stadium, now called the Foothills Multi-Use Site. The site will feature a designated natural area, environmental education features, trail connections, a bike park, parkland and more.

Ridgeview Park Playground Replacement

Ridgeview Park is getting a new, revamped playground supported by the 2050 Tax Initiative and the Parks Infrastructure Replacement Plan.

Update to Landings Park

The City is planning an update to Landings Park using funding from the Parks and Recreation, Transit and Climate 2050 Tax.

Mariposa Park

The City is planning to build a park in the Mosaic Neighborhood. The park will be located just east of Timberline Road off of Sykes Drive.

Update to Soft Gold Park

The City is planning an update to Soft Gold Park using funding from the Parks and Recreation, Transit and Climate 2050 Tax.

Rolland Moore Tennis Complex and Playground Renovation

The Rolland Moore Tennis Complex and Playground Renovation Project aims to evaluate and renovate the tennis complex and playground areas at Rolland Moore Community Park.

Poudre River Trail Connections

The Colorado Front Range/Poudre River Trail Initiative is working to fill three trail gaps of the Poudre River Trail between Fort Collins and Windsor.

Spring Canyon Community Park Renovations

The City is renovating the splash pad and playground restroom at Spring Canyon Community Park through the Infrastructure Replacement Program (IRP) and the 2050 tax initiative.

Park Improvements and Renovations

The Parks Infrastructure Replacement Program (IRP) supports the replacement and/or renovation of Fort Collins' aging park infrastructure. These projects typically feature upgrades or improvements including hardscapes, buildings, fields, trails, courts, structures, playgrounds, irrigation, medians, water, ADA improvements and more.

The goals of the IRP are to:

Replace or restore components to substantially the same original condition, purpose, and efficiency.
Bring new components up to current codes and guidelines.
Follow the Park Department's mission to provide excellent care of parks and public spaces for the community.

Projects are prioritized based on available funding, health and safety concerns, and regulatory mandates. The Infrastructure Replacement Program helps ensure that every Fort Collins household, regardless of the age of the neighborhood, has access to a functional park near where they live.
