Ridgeview Park Playground Replacement

In spring 2026, a survey was conducted to understand the community's preferences for the Ridgeview Park play area update. The survey was open from March 27-April 17. Notifications about the survey were posted on Nextdoor, in the McGraw Elementary Parent Teacher Organization's newsletter, on the project webpage and on yard signs around the playground for three weeks.

Concept Preference

• When asked which option of play equipment was preferred for children 5-12:
  • 41% (9 people) preferred a dome-shaped rope climber with different climbing challenges inside and out.
  • 54.5% (12 people) preferred a themed play tower with climbing balancing, slides and play panels.
  • One participant had no preference.

• When asked why they preferred their option, respondents noted:
  • Unique features
  • Variety
  • Climbing, balancing and upper body challenges 

• When asked what age children frequent the area currently, responses varied but generally included toddlers to 12-year-olds. 

• Overall, comments about the playground and park in general are summarized as the following:
  •  A desire for more features targeted for older children
  • A desire for shade
  • More versatility and tactile features in the play equipment
  • Would like to see a strong theme element
  • Enjoyment of other park features such as benches, bathroom, little library, large green space, trees and rocks
  • A desire for additional amenities throughout the park
  • Concern about the cost of equipment replacement
