Community members have been advocating for a community bike park in Fort Collins for more than a decade. The ReCreate: Parks & Rec Master Plan, published in 2021,identified mountain bike courses as a priority investment for residents of Fort Collins. Current small bike park locations in Fort Collins include a 2.0-acre BMX course at Twin Silo Park, a small 0.27-acre pump track at Traverse Park, a small 0.53-acre pump track at Soft Gold Park, and a 0.7-acre mountain bike skills course at Spring Canyon Park.
In 2024, City Council appropriated funding for a community bike park feasibility study. City staff have recently completed this study with the support of a consultant. The feasibility study evaluated the following:
Upon completion, the final report was presented to City Council in an Executive Session. The report's findings will remain confidential due to potential impacts on future property acquisitions. In addition to the former Hughes Stadium location, other sites included in the evaluation were deemed feasible at varying degrees.
