Block Parties

A side view of the City's Block Party Trailer

Block parties can be a fun way to meet neighbors, build community and enjoy food, music and games on your street. This page has everything you need to plan your event — including how to apply for a street closure and how to reserve the free Block Party Trailer, which comes stocked with tables, chairs, games and other supplies.

How to Host a Block Party

Block parties on private property don't require any special permits unless you are requesting a street closure. See below for the street closure information. Block parties in public parks and Natural Areas may have specific rules and restrictions.

Note:

  • Block Party Street Closure requests open each year in May. Do not close your street without approval from the City.
  • Some eligible streets may temporarily be unavailable for street closures due to planned construction projects or maintenance.
  • Block Party hosts are required to use appropriate traffic control measures. Green areas on the map require Type III barricades and cones at each end of the street closure.
