The City of Fort Collins is making improvements at the Timberline Road and Lincoln Avenue intersection. Today, many drivers turn left from northbound Timberline onto Lincoln, which often causes traffic to back up to Mulberry. There are also safety issues for drivers turning from Lincoln onto Timberline.
The City received a federal Highway Safety Improvement Program grant to help pay for these safety upgrades.
The goals of the project are to:
To meet these goals, the project will add a new type of turn design often called a “Michigan left.” With this design, northbound drivers will go past Lincoln, make a U-turn at a marked turnaround, and then turn right to head west on Lincoln.
Other improvements include:
Any impacts to traffic related to construction on this project will be noted on our Construction and Traffic Impacts webpage.
The project cost is estimated at $1.8 million based on the conceptual design.
Current funding includes:
Remaining needed funding will be secured after the project estimate is refined through design.
