Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) has completed renovations to a portion of its Timberline Road facility, transforming previously unused detention space into a shared operational workspace for two vital units: the Mental Health Response Team (MHRT) and the Homeless Outreach and Proactive Engagement (HOPE) team. The renovated space is designed to strengthen coordination between the specialized teams as they provide outreach, crisis intervention, and connections to critical services.
First announced in January 2026, the project reflects FCPS’s continued commitment to community-centered public safety strategies and the shared investment by the City of Fort Collins and The Woodward Charitable Trust in long-term solutions that address behavioral and mental health needs. By creating dedicated space for the two collaborative response teams, the renovation enhances the ability of MHRT and HOPE to deliver proactive outreach and compassionate support to some of the community’s most vulnerable residents.
“This project was an investment in our teams and our community,” said Chief of Police, Jeff Swoboda. “The new space allows our teams to collaborate effectively while continuing to prioritize compassionate, service-oriented support across our city.”
The renovation was made possible through funding support from The Woodward Charitable Trust. Construction began in February 2026 and was completed this spring without disruption to police operations. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated space occurred June 1, 2026.
