A neighborhood meeting was held about this project on Wednesday, June 10.

Project Overview

The City of Fort Collins is improving safety for people walking and biking at the intersection of Vine Drive and Jerome Street.

The City’s Active Modes Plan, Strategic Trails Plan and North College MAX Bus Rapid Transit Report support these improvements, identifying this location as important for:

  • Safer pedestrian and bicycle crossings
  • Better access to public transit in the North College area
  • Connecting trails in northeast Fort Collins with Whitewater Park and the Poudre River Trail

 

Project Impacts

This project will include:

  • A two-way pedestrian crossing on the east side of Jerome Street
  • Bicycle crossings for northbound and southbound riders
  • A protected bike corner island for the southbound crossing
  • Rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) with push buttons
  • A two-way sidepath on the south side of Vine Drive
  • A trail connection along the east side of Jerome Street
  • ADA-compliant curb ramps
  • Streetscape and urban design enhancements

Project Timeline

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.

Project Funding

The project will cost $952,000. Funding comes from several sources, including the Urban Renewal Authority, Downtown Development Authority, bicycle and pedestrian Community Capital Improvement Program, Transportation Capital Expansion Fees, Transportation Services fund, Conservation Trust Fund and 2050 tax for climate projects.
