Temporary Closure

Due to an unforeseen issue, the Oval Shelter restroom on the east side of the lake is currently closed and without power. Crews are actively working to resolve the problem.

The Lake Shelter restroom on the west side of the lake remains open and available for use.

Designed as an escape from the urban environment, Fossil Creek Park wraps around the Portner Reservoir in southeast Fort Collins, with a quaint walking path around the lake and various recreation features from sports fields to tennis courts. The park is also a kid's paradise with its Tar Pits Play Area, giant Mammoth feature and interactive splash pad. Pickleball can be played on the hockey court, but players must bring their own nets.

Enjoy a waterfall and dancing waterspouts on the lake’s edge, against the beautiful backdrop of the front range.

Seven days a week

Water features are open and free to the public throughout the summer season, typically from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Hours of operation may vary depending on weather conditions or mechanical issues.
