FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Transfort's newly optimized bus network takes effect Monday, Aug. 17, bringing more frequent service on key routes, a simplified grid design and updated Dial-A-Ride paratransit service. All routes, including MAX, FLEX, HORN, GOLD and the Foothills Shuttle, will remain fare-free.

The changes are the result of the Transfort Optimization Plan, finalized earlier this year after extensive public engagement and data analysis. The redesigned network strengthens high-demand corridors and improves connections across the city while operating within Transfort's existing resources.

"We're ready to bring this new network to the community," Director of Transfort Kaley Zieeisel said. "These changes mean more frequent, reliable service on the routes people use most, and a system that's easier to understand for both new and current riders."

What's Changing Aug. 17

More frequent service:

  • Routes 3, 8, 31, HORN, MAX and the Foothills Shuttle: Every 20 minutes or better
  • Routes 2, 5, 9, 14, 19 and 81: Every 30 minutes
  • Routes 6, 7, 16 and 18: Every hour

Routing changes:

  • Routes 2, 3, 8 and 81 will have significant changes to their routing.
  • Routes 7, 16 and the Foothills Shuttle will have minor changes to their routing.

Routes ending:

  • Routes 10, 11, 12, 32 and 92 will be eliminated.

All Sunday bus service will end.

  • Bus Stop to Bus Stop service will no longer be available.

Holiday service:

  • Holiday service will run 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on select routes: MAX, 2, 3, 8, 14, 16 and 81.

Changes to Dial-A-Ride Service

As fixed bus routes shift, the Dial-A-Ride paratransit service area will also be updated, effective Aug. 17:

  • Sunday service will end.
  • Dial-A-Taxi vouchers will decrease to $15 in value, and the Dial-A-Taxi service area will expand.
  • Existing clients who fall outside the new Dial-A-Ride service area will retain their eligibility for door-to-door service.
