On Monday, July 6, 2026, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Fort Collins 911 received a report of a crash involving a semi-truck and pedestrian at the intersection of East Mulberry St. and Whedbee St. When Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female bicyclist who had been struck by the semi-truck and was deceased. The semi-truck and driver stayed at the scene. Because this was a fatal collision, the FCPS Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling (CRASH) team responded to take over the investigation.

The semi-truck involved in the collision was part of an ongoing construction project along this stretch of Mulberry St. To this point, the investigation has revealed that the bicyclist was going from the north side of the road to the south side of the road when she was struck. There were construction personnel on scene when this occurred. Investigators are working to determine the factors that led to the collision.

“This was a traumatic incident for not only those involved, but also those who witnessed the scene. Our Investigators are working to get answers for all those involved, and our victim advocate team has responded to help provide assistance,” said Sergeant David Lindsay who oversees the CRASH team.

Due to continued roadwork related to the construction project, both directions of Mulberry St. will be closed between Remington St. and Riverside Ave. into the morning hours of Tuesday, July 7.

Anyone who witnessed this incident and has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Officer Matt Brede, at (970) 221-6842. This is an active investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
