The City of Fort Collins, in collaboration with Elevations Credit Union, will host a full slate of Independence Day festivities on Saturday, July 4, including special activities celebrating America’s 250th and Colorado’s 150th anniversaries.
In addition to regularly scheduled activities like the FireKracker 5K, free trolley rides, food trucks, live music and Elevations Credit Union’s Family Fun Zone, City Park will play host to a Touch-A-Truck area and “Walk Through History” display.
Curated by local organizations across Fort Collins, the “Walk Through History” will feature explorations of national and local history, including a Field of Honor in partnership with the Breakfast Rotary Club, historical reenactors, a Liberty 250 Exhibit and other interactive activities for the whole family. As always, the celebration will conclude with a fireworks display over Sheldon Lake in City Park.
“This Fourth of July is truly a special one for Fort Collins. Celebrating the country and state milestone anniversaries alongside our own community traditions makes this year’s event unlike any other,” says LeAnn Williams, Deputy Director of Community Services. “We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsor Elevations Credit Union for hosting the Family Fun Zone and local partners who helped bring the “Walk Through History” to life. Their dedication is what makes celebrations like this so meaningful. We hope residents and visitors will come out and celebrate with us.”
