Warrants
Fort Collins Municipal Court issues warrants on all misdemeanor type and petty offense citations for failure to appear at any hearing or trial. Warrants can also be issued for failing to appear for a Show Cause Hearing on cases with a suspended jail sentence or a deferred judgment sentence.
Please Note: If you have an active warrant, you are subject to arrest by a law enforcement officer until you clear your warrant with the Court.
Options for Addressing Your Warrant
If you have a warrant from Fort Collins Municipal Court, you have three options to address it:
1. Appear Tuesday Morning
Appear Tuesday morning (except holidays) at 8 a.m. Request to be added to the morning docket and speak with the judge in the courtroom about your case or meet with a prosecutor. You must appear before 8:30 a.m. to be added to that day’s docket.
2. File a Motion to Stay or Recall Your Warrant
File a Motion(PDF, 289KB) to Stay or Recall your warrant. You can file this motion in person or by email at court@fortcollins.gov. Include your case number in your email. If you don't know your case number, you must appear in person with your ID to get warrant information.
If you choose this option and would like to file in person, you must appear at Municipal Court before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, or before 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. This gives clerks time to process the case and clear the warrant before closing.
