Biography
Elected to serve on Council in 2025, Amy Hoeven is a fourth-generation Coloradan who has lived, worked and volunteered in Fort Collins and District 5 for most of her life. She attended Bennett Elementary and Colorado State University, earning a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences, and has dedicated the past 18 years to serving the community she loves. Growing up alongside the city’s transformation from a small town to a thriving, interconnected community, Amy came to believe that local government must honor community voices and ensure that every resident and local business feels part of the decisions that shape their lives. She ran for City Council to strengthen these connections and expand opportunities for meaningful community participation.
Her career has centered on listening deeply, advocating for those who are often unheard, and creating practical, people-centered solutions. Working with first-generation students, immigrant families, nonprofits, foundations and community partners, Amy has built programs that strengthen human dignity, expand opportunity and close resource gaps. She helped launch CSU’s First-Generation Near Peer Mentoring Program and served on the Citizen Review Board.
As a natural connector and problem solver, Amy elevates voices and brings people into the work. She believes that a city that protects its vulnerable residents becomes stronger, more resilient and better positioned to support working families, small businesses and a thriving local workforce. Her leadership is informed by the intersections among housing, workforce accessibility, transportation and community health.
District 5 holds a special place in her heart. With its thousands of students and families, diverse business landscape, key transportation corridors, outdoor spaces, trails and vibrant neighborhoods, it serves as a vital hub of Fort Collins’ wellbeing. Amy leads with compassion and is committed to helping the district—and the city—capitalize on community strengths, strengthen connections, and build resilience across systems and neighborhoods to help build a brighter future for everyone, together.
Amy and her family are proud CSU Ram fans who love spending time on campus and exploring all that Fort Collins and Colorado State University have to offer.
