Pedals and Panels

Next date: Monday, June 29, 2026 | 05:30 PM to 07:30 PM

Bicyclists with helmets observe a historic home with solar panels on the roof while an educator discusses the process of installing solar.

Do you want to learn more about producing sustainable energy, or how to produce power on your own property? Have you ever wondered how you can do that on buildings that have historic value? This bike tour is for you!

We’ll start with a quick orientation at the Utilities Building at 222 Laporte Ave. After that, we’ll take a spin through Old Town by bike with the City’s rooftop solar and historic preservation experts to learn more about how the two important goals of producing sustainable energy and preserving important historic places can be combined. We’ll be going 3.25 miles/5.2km at a conversational pace.

Please bring a working bike, a helmet, sunscreen, and some water. Helmets are required for this bike ride. If you do not have a helmet, the City can provide one for you. Bike parking is available in front of 222 Laporte Ave. along Laporte Ave. Vehicle parking is available on-street on N. Howes Street or one block away in the Civic Center Parking Garage at Laporte Avenue and Mason Street.
