Chat with an energy advisor about ways to make your home more comfortable and efficient, and connect with local organizations offering programs, services, and tips to help you live more sustainably.

Plus, don't miss the Xeriscape Garden Party, featuring the NoCo Native Plant Swap and expert tips for creating a beautiful, water-wise landscape. Enjoy food trucks and activities for all ages, including free sessions on topics like waste, energy efficiency and fire-wise landscaping.

Educational Presentations in City Hall Chambers

10 a.m. - Sorting it Out: Managing Waste in Larimer County 
Abby Kotecki, the Environmental Educator for Larimer County Solid Waste, will share information about local waste management systems and recycling guidelines for Larimer County. Attendees will learn how to reduce contamination in their single-stream recycling and be updated on current and future Larimer County Solid Waste projects. Join us to stay informed and help support responsible waste practices in our community. 

11 a.m. - Firewise Landscaping for Colorado Gardens: Beauty, Resilience, and Safety at Home 
Kevin Lyles is a Landscape Architect and Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist and will present on how thoughtful plant choices and smart landscape design can reduce wildfire risk while supporting native biodiversity. As the owner of Confluent Design, he is bringing fire science into Colorado landscape architecture and expanding the profession’s role in wildfire resilience. He combines experience in open space planning and native landscapes with residential mitigation to help communities explore new strategies for safer, more resilient places.  

12 p.m. - Practical Home Performance Energy Efficiency Training
Sean Ankrom from ARUS Consulting will introduce a free online course designed for homeowners in the City of Fort Collins.  Sean is a BPI certified energy assessor with 10+ years of experience in energy efficiency and has advised thousands of homeowners on how-to make their homes more energy efficient. The training provides a detailed overview of the Practical Home Performance course, created by Blue Sky Training in partnership with the City of Fort Collins. Sean will be discussing how the training course is designed to equip homeowners with foundational building science knowledge and practical home performance strategies for the goal of boosting participation in local rebate programs, as well as helping homeowners feel more confident in making energy efficiency decisions in their home. 

Xeriscape Demonstration Garden Tours

Master gardeners will be on-site to provide tours of the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden.

Garden Tour Times: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m.
