Project Timeline

Date of Purchase and Budget Allocations

The park land was purchased by the City on March 29, 2024. Funding for the park was allocated during the 2025/2026 City of Fort Collins Budgeting for Outcomes (BFO) Process.

Neighbors were asked to provide input on preferred active and passive park features, amenities and elements. Online feedback was all collected to inform design. A summary of open house feedback is available upon request.

Neighborhood Meeting #1 and Online Feedback Form Summary

Public Outreach Summary

Initial public outreach included a drop-in open house and an online survey. The open house was held at the Center for Creativity on June 24, 2025 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  An online survey was also made available on the project website to reach a broader audience and accommodate those who could not attend in person.  The survey remained open from June 24 to July 8, 2025.  Community feedback plays an important role in creating a thoughtful and balanced park design.  However, the final design is also shaped by the project’s budget and site constraints.

Engagement Summary:

  • Attendance: 130
  • Comment Cards: 69
  • Open House Votes: 2,074
  • Online Surveys: 86

  •  Modern shelters with angled roofs
  •  Use of boulders and stone materials
  •  Organic forms and shapes
  •  Informal planting beds and berms

Community members would also like the park to include the following top activities:

  •  Pollinator meadow
  •  Informal seating with shade or small shelters

  •  Bocce ball
  •  Basketball court

Additional feedback was received on preferred playground features, and it was clear that people preferred the following:

  •  Nature-inspired play
  •  Zipline
  •  Boulder play or net climbing
  •  Sensory path or sculptural play
  •  Group spinner or seesaw

What Belongs in a Neighborhood Park?

Information on neighborhood parks as described in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan:

  • Neighborhood parks serve the needs of residents within walking distance of their homes. Neighborhood parks should strike a balance between passive and active recreational opportunities. They are intended for residents from adjacent neighborhoods and should not seek to attract visitors from too much further.
  • Neighborhood parks should be accessible by way of the city’s sidewalks, low-stress bicycle network, and local streets. They should be easily accessible from the surrounding neighborhood with no physical barriers or busy streets restricting access. Where possible, trails should also connect to neighborhood parks. Neighborhood parks should have street parking nearby.
